Bryson gets clean audit

Thu, 01/12/2017 - 12:53 pm

BRYSON – The city had a “good year” overall financially after audit results for the city’s books were revealed to council members Monday evening.

Kenneth Savell of Birdwell, Quinn & Co. said there were no deficiencies in internal controls and an unmodified or clean audit was reported. The city took in $46,072 more than it spent during the year and has a fund balance in the general fund of $185,304.

“It was a good year overall,” Savell said.

In other news, the council approved the bid of Badger Hauling for its rock hauling needs for the next fiscal year. The bid came in at $100 per load of rock.

The council tabled an item on what to do with brick from the former Dempsey Building which was demolished last year. Hefner said a number of people had asked what the city planned to do with it.

Councilman Larry Nantz urged the city to sell it while councilman Alan Thornburg said to see what kind of offers the city would get for the brick and bring it back to the council.

The council is looking for businesses, private donors or churches to purchase picnic tables for the Log Cabin Park Pavilion.
