Velma Lee Price was born Oct. 18, 1927 in Postoak, to Joseph William and Sally Pearl (Gifford) Schmittou. She passed away Monday, Oct. 30 in Marlow, at the age of 96.

The family received visitors from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at Whitt Funeral Home.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3 at Eastside Church ofChrist,withRonStough officiating. Interment followed at 2 p.m. in the Truce Cemetery located at 15505 Hwy. 59, in Bowie, under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.

After graduating from Postoak High School, Velma married Delbert Price on Feb. 2, 1946. They were married for 57 years when Delbert preceded her in death.

She enjoyed embroidery, gardening and fishing, especially with Delbert. Velma was a homemaker throughout her life and enjoyed cooking and having her family over for meals. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting those still in Postoak whenever she could.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; son, Roger Price; daughter, Kathy Weeden; granddaughter, Tina Myers; brothers, Virgil Schmittou and Weldon Schmittou; and sisters, Gladys Haley and Cammie Woods.

She is survived by her grandsons, Jeremy Price and Bart McClenny; great-grandchildren, Tessa Carson, Lilly Graham, Abbi Tipton, Paisli Price, and Kole Young; great-great-grandchildren, Merrick Carson and Scarlett Carson; and daughter-in-law, Gale Price.
