County to work with mental health center
Beginning in October, Jack County will spend $15,000 each year to house a mental health counseling center. The office, operated by Helen Farabee MHMR Center, will be located downtown near City Drug.
Court discusses HVAC units, software
Jack County Commissioners took no action on replacing an air conditioning unit at the county jail during the Monday, April 22 meeting. Jail Administrator Scott Simonton said some of the units have been replaced already that have been there since the building opened 22 years ago.
FCH upgrading lighting
Faith Community Hospital will have its lights throughout the hospital retrofitted over the next two to three months. Chief Operating Officer Jeff Casbeer told FCH board members at their Thursday, April 18 meeting that the contract with E3 Energy Service is awaiting final approval.
City discusses audit, insurance
Jacksboro city officials received another clean audit for the 2022-23 fiscal year. During the Monday, April 22 meeting, Mike Edgin with accounting firm Edgin, Parkman, Fleming & Fleming, said the city received positive financial growth over the last year.
Parks and Rec updates community on operations
Jacksboro Parks and Recreation Director Will Mangum recently gave Lions Club members an update on how the department is functioning and working on various community issues. Mangum said in the April 10 meeting with Lions Club members the Twin Lakes Activity Center was used by homebuilders earlier this year to build five homes for tornado victims.
City moves forward on sewer plant project
After discussion for more than a dozen years and various work on different parts of the plan, a new water treatment plan is moving another step closer to fruition. The plant, a booster pump station and bulk loading station, is being drafted by engineering company Garver.
Community suggests new extension programs
Thecommunityshowed up Tuesday, April 16 to give out new ideas for programs to the Jack County Extension Service. During a forum at the Jack County Fair Barn, Cox said about every three to five years the Texas A&M Extension Service asks agents to get with the public on the development of new programs involving agriculture, family and consumer health as well as youth.
BISD board discusses calendar
After much discussion over the last few weeks, Bryson residents will have to wait another month before finding out whether the district will revert to a four-day calendar. Board members voted in a three-way tie to approve a four-day calendar during the Monday, April 15 meeting.
